Welcome to Easterside Academy

"Giving the Chance to Shine"

The Discovery Alliance

Easterside Academy opened on the 1st April 2014 as a converter academy. The predecessor school was Easterside Primary School.

In addition to forming a single academy trust, Easterside Academy also became a member of a wider umbrella trust of academies known as The Discovery Alliance.  This group comprises of Easterside Academy, Hemlington Hall Academy, Rose Wood Academy, Sunnyside Academy and The King’s Academy (secondary).

academy statement

As a group we have decided to work in close partnership with each other in order to improve standards across The Discovery Alliance. We hope to do this through:

  • Strengthen professional development;
  • Enriching curriculum opportunities and;
  • Enhancing transition with a key secondary partner.

Although we retain completely separate financial and governance arrangements we make ourselves accountable to each other for our school performance through a Raising Achievement Panel (RAP) which scrutinises data and unpicks reasons for success and weakness that can be shared, improved and built upon. The RAP comprises of the Head Teacher’s, Chairs of the Governing Bodies and an outside advisor who chairs the meetings. This collaborative approach to working is already proving to be highly effective with subject leader networks established across the schools, an assessment working party and staff from The King’s Academy involved in supporting teaching some of the Year 6 pupils.
